Hello and welcome to The Red Lion, part of The Greedy Gordon Group, an eclectic and friendly collection of luxury pubs and online boutiques located in the heart of Northamptonshire.

Welcome to The Red Lion, an idyllic traditional village pub based in Cranford (near Kettering) a village steeped in history where the pub has been a mainstay since the 1700s. The Red Lion is the first pub opened by head chef and proprietor Richard Gordon with partner Sonya Harvey as part of The Greedy Gordon Pub Group.

Bringing over 50 years (combined) of industry experience, Richard and Sonya have thrown all their energy into The Red Lion, which has been a bustling part of the community since we launched! So much so, that we won The Muddy Stilettos Award for Best Location Pub in 2019 and Booker Food Pub of the Year 2019/20 & the Booker silver dining venue of the year 2021/2022!

Our aim has always been to bring people together with our warm hospitality and our love of delicious food and drink. Our menu is inventive, imaginative and always creative; giving the local pub scene a new and diverse way of eating.
We pride ourselves on using the very best local produce for our food and drink and reducing our carbon footprint has been at the forefront of the Red Lion’s success.
We use local lamb and local wine produced in Brigstock - Birds View Vineyard and wine produced also in a Vineyard locally in Lowick.
We use local producers as much as possible. Robert Jones (Bob) grows most of our fruit and veg (no pesticides), and we take all of his produce, it tastes amazing! We also use The Roastery in Wellingborough and Tea Lab, another brilliant company that even does nitrogen tea at some of its venues.
Recycling & upcycling and having a real essence of the environment are very important to us.
We fell in love with the Red Lion because it’s a cosy pub with old-world charm, low ceilings and open fires. You can choose your tipple, grab one of our board games and you’re set for the night! We’re family-friendly and dog-friendly too and have a spacious beer garden. The restaurant’s glass extension gives a contemporary edge and separates the space from the bar for those wanting a more formal (but still friendly) dining experience.
Nothing beats a cosy pub - the smell of a real fire, a superbly cooked meal, a tipple of choice - and we think long and hard about it all because we really care. It has always been our dream to have a collection of pubs connecting the community and we’re so thrilled to have made this a reality.
Come along and experience what we believe is London-style dining in the Rose of the Shires.
We can’t wait to meet you.
