With a history that stretches back over 400 years, The Red Lion has character and charm befitting of a traditional village pub with low ceilings, beams, open fires and cosy corners. Our restaurant is a contemporary addition which is bright and spacious and allows view to the garden which is beautifully lit in the evening and well tended by our local gardener.
Cranford has also been the ancestral home of our family, the Robinsons since the 18th century. We have been intrinsically linked with the village, the land, the school, church and the pub during this time and value the importance of community.
It is arguable that one of our main attractions is the food we serve in our restaurant. Our main themes are fresh, local and seasonal and the quality of our ingredients is paramount. We source beef and lamb from neighbouring farms, fruit such as quince and apples from our estate orchard, honey from Cranford’s own bee-keeper and, in the winter, game from our family shoot and wild venison from our woods.
Our bar offer consists of a selection of quality drinks from recognised brands to craft ales and premium lagers to complement the experience at The Red Lion.
All of the above would be for nothing if it were not for our staff, of whom we are immensely proud. We are so lucky to have such a dedicated and professional team.
But perhaps their best quality is their relaxed good nature, and it is that which is so important in welcoming you, our guests. We look forward to welcoming you to the Red Lion either for a quiet drink after a walk through the village or for a meal in our restaurant.
